Consultant for The Attain Group, Ottawa
Jan 2021 - Jan 2022
The Attain Group / Le Groupe LGA, a leading Ottawa-based telecoms and security consultant to (among others) the Canadian government, needed to implement BIM and Revit in their business. They wanted to streamline processes and improve project delivery. My role, as a consultant, was to oversee the implementation of Revit standards and training.
In addition, I offered custom support to staff and advice to management on BIM project strategies.
Due to the nature of The Attain Group’s work, the exact details of the project work are subject to government security clearance.
Consultant for Engie MultiTech, Toronto
July 2019 - August 2020
ENGIE MultiTech Ltd. had been awarded the prestigious Eglinton Crosstown (LRT) subway station project for Forest Hill, Caledonia, Fairbanks, Chaplin, and Mount Pleasant. While they had the capacity and capability to complete the work on the $5.4 billion project, they needed help with BIM management of the project.
As their BIM consultant, my role was to lead the bi-weekly coordination review meetings on Forest Hill station. During the project rollout, the team worked through over three hundred issues prior to installation. This included checking the model against the latest IFC design changes and submitting revised drawings to the client for review.
Following the intense BIM catchup process on the Forest Hill station, I continued to assist Revit staff on other stations and implemented the use of Trimble for Revit to reduce production lead time.
All projects were set up on BIM360 for remoting working teams, and I coordinated production and installation progress with the project manager and foremen on an ongoing basis.
Condo development for Able Engineering, Toronto
July 2018 - Nov 2018
ABLE Engineering was already rolling out BIM as part of their project management infrastructure, but they required a review of the setup of existing BIM projects.
At the same time, I mentored staff on Revit best practices, managed the Revit modelling & coordination of mechanical systems for high-rise condos at 60 Shuter St, 25 Richmond St and 8 Cumberland St, and created custom Revit MEP content.
My work for ABLE also included developing a BIM execution plan & Revit user guide for the office, and even though I left my full-time role with the company in 2019, I continued to assist on projects as needed into 2020.
